Been There, Did That

Mav finished the final long stretch to Ft. Reno and rounded the corner to pass through the gate.

He had been talking about changing back into only Piraña gear fro the last several miles, so Cara and T3 helped him out of his warm stuff and into his Piraña stuff, then, joined by Goose who had come to see the finish, and T3, Mav continued up the 1.5 mile road to the Ft. Reno Complex.

The road takes a left turn and then a right turn to go around the visitors center before you can see the Chapel and the Mother Road 100 finish line. Before the three caballeros made the turns (so they were still hiden from the finish by the visitors center) Mav decided to take off everything but his shorts and his buffalo girl garter. And that is the way he crossed the finish line!

So three Pirañas started, one finished.

T3 got Mav to put his clothes on before he got chilled and he posed for pictures.

Well done Mav!

What can I say. This was an incredible 100 mile celebration. Not only did we celebrate running, being with your best friends and facing a challenge, we celebrated the life of Mr. Garman O. Kimmel. I did not know him well, but by witnessing the incredible job he did with his family, I know he was a great man. The world is a better place because he was here. About Mile 95 I paused and gave thanks for his life and how it indirectly effected mine.

    Hey guys!

I just want to say thanks to all who helped me cross the line. I did not do it alone. I had my highs and lows throughout the day and night and day (and I found some really cool stuff), but when it comes right down to it, I just ran 100 &#%$*&# miles.

Seriously, I could not have done it without my family, crew and brothers. Angie (Mrs. Mav), Kate and Abby gave me a lift every time I saw them. Goose, Weeble and Cara (Pirana groupie) encouraged me and kept my spirits up as I cruised along. Peggy gave me what I needed when I needed it and is now the designated crew chief of the Piranas. Thanks for getting hurt Big. P.I.T. McLuvins and his Finish Line crew made it one to remember. The volunteers and everyone along the way made it great.

And then there is t3, my partner in crime. We started this journey together and we finished it together. Even when your race was done and you had had a rough day physically, mentally and emotionally you stuck with me until the end. You kept me going and giving me what I needed. whether I wanted and knew it or not, and encouraged me every step of the way. When I call you brother, I mean it. There will be a lot more journeys.

Running is not an “individual” sport. It mirrors life. Everyone has to take his/her own steps and make their own choices on which road to travel, but we do not run alone.
