Turkey Trotting

This holiday found Brother Samsonite in Windham, NH, with family from Mama Samsonite’s side of the family. He’s gone there for all 3 of his West Point Thanksgivings, and he loves hanging out with his younger cousins. This year he talked 2 of his favorites into running a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot of sorts. They ran the 21st Annual Feaster Five in Andover, MA. Feaster is a Dave McGilivray production attracting over 8,000 runners for the 5k and 5-mile events. Parker, 8, Connor, 13, and Samsonite ran the 5k race. It was a distance PR for them both! Samsonite ran the whole way with Parker and they fought their way across the finish line in 39:30 – victory in the completion! All finishers earned a New England favorite “Table Talk” apple pie. They took their 3 pies home to a hungry family of 25 where they were quickly devoured. They enjoyed the meal – and the subsequent triptophan-induced slumber – more than the rest, 5k finishers that they were.

Tomorrow will be the 112.5th running of the Boston Marathon, and Samsonite will be the only participant! That is to say, his family is going to drop him off in Hopkinton and pick him up 4ish hours later at Copley Square. There won’t be any laurel wreath at the end, but Samsonite will be wearing a grin from ear to ear for the whole journey!

Meanwhile in local news: The Pirañas are considering taking over the Annual Turkey Trot Classic 8K in Oklahoma City. Brother Obi discussed the possibility with the fine folks from Eagle Ridge (the beneficiary) and they are receptive to the Pirañas managing the race for them.
