Weeble Wobbles Home!

by admin on March 2, 2008

Weeble ran strong (and long)

and finished great,

handing off to Big for his final leg, with Mav doing the Wayne’s World “we’re not worthy” in the background.

So Big is out on the course and we are waiting for him to exchange with Mav for the final leg. While we were waiting for Weeble to get in, some important business needed to be attended to:

The Goose has Landed!

by admin on March 2, 2008

We were all pretty worried about Goose. What with the throwing up (even with the drugs) and all. So when we threw him out for his last leg, needless to say, we were concerned. Well, we wasted our worry.

Goose finished his leg strong in 9:44 pace and then handed off to Weeble for is last leg.

It has started to rain here, so Weeble is running in the rain (not to be confused with singing in the rain). Big is up next and then Mav. We finish by ALL going to the San Jacinto Monument.

The Final Countdown

by admin on March 2, 2008

From here on in, everybody that runs and finishes is done! T3 celebrated by having the van stop at a Taquaria so he could get a chicken fajita taco and some beans! All for only $1.50 and served by a very cute hispanic girl that spoke english with almost no accent. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures of either the taco stand or the girl. We promise to do better.

T3 Finishes His Final Leg!

by admin on March 2, 2008

Weeble ran strong and came in on schedule. He handed off to T3 for his final run (though he was sure to explain to everyone that it was going to be a walk)

t3start.jpg

Happy but VERY stiff and sore. T3 was resolved to walk the whole thing. About .25 miles in a guy came shuffling up behind T3 and he thought to himself, “I can shuffle at that pace.” And so he did. From there on in, T3 and John ran together. Slow, but steady. T3 would not have made it without him, “Thanks John!”

John is on the left of T3 (that would be your right)

T3 handed off to Maverick who ran his leg at 9:31 pace and handed off to Goose who is out on the course right now. We have been “on” for 30 hours. We have 6 hours to finish and we are praying to Our Gracious Heavenly Father that it will not take that long :)

Shiny Happy People

by admin on March 2, 2008

That would not be us, but at every exchange there are all these people who have only run a handful of miles. Many of them slept and showered last night. They are perky and bouncy and we hate them all.

We have collectively decided that if you have run less than 30 miles you have nothing to say that we want to hear. People are pretty impressed when they find out there are only five of us and that we are on our 7th and 8th legs.

What’s Left of Texas?

by admin on March 2, 2008

When Big comes in (running 33):

Weeble runs 34 (5.33 miles)
T3 runs Captain’s leg (5.18 miles)
Maverick runs 36 (5.58 miles)
Goose runs 37 (4.4 miles)
Weeble runs 38 (6.45 miles)
Big runs 39 (3.28 miles)
Maverick runs 40 (5.31 miles)

Then we all run the Prologue (.38 miles)

Here comes the sun!

When the van got to the end of leg 31 (Mav) it was still very dark and the van is still very skanky:

By the time Mav got there the sky was getting lighter:

Mav ran 8:24 pace and handed off to T3 who actually ran for 5 miles with Dennis who told him that this was his second leg and he was struggling a little. T3 really had to fight the urge to beat him to death with his own running shoes :) before walking it in for the last 1.5 (that would be 10:30 pace boys and girls). Goose is feeling better. Big is out on the road and we are stocking up on ice before we move to the next stop. We are VERY tired. Goose is saying he is good to go for his last leg. T3 thinks he may have to walk his last leg. And even Mav says it is looking like 9:00 pace for him. We are going to finish this thing but it is not going to be pretty.
